I was born in Quito – Ecuador and at the age of six my father taught me how to use his Kodak Cine Scopemeter 8mm camera. By the time I was eight, I was taking, developing and printing color and black & white photographs under the guidance of my cousin. These two situations cemented my love for Cinematography and story telling.

At the age of seven, by pure coincidence I started working as a TV host for the very popular — long running children variety show Telejardin. I lasted 6 years.

I made my first documentary as part of my high school graduation thesis and then moved to Montreal and got my Bachelor in Fine Arts majoring in Film Studies at Concordia University. Later, I got a Certificate of Excellence at the Vancouver Film School.

Right after, I started shooting Documentaries all over South America while working up the ladder in the camera department on scripted narrative for TV and feature. I am happy to be a long standing member of the International Camera Guild, the Canadian Society of Cinematographers, The Academy of Canadian Film and TV and recently a member of the Directors Guild of Canada.

Over the years some of my work has been nominated and won various awards. I feel grateful to have had the opportunity to collaborate with some very knowledgeable and inspirational artists and professionals from all over the world.

As a Cinematographer I thrive in collaboration and love knowing that I further the story using light and the camera while facilitating the Director’s and/or Showrunner’s vision.

When I am not working, I am either playing music or traveling and enjoying the simplicity of rural life.
